Senior Fair a Success

In celebration of Older Americans Month, Coastline Elderly Services, Inc, in collaboration with the Fairhaven Council on Aging held a “Senior Fair” on May 9, 2007 at the Fairhaven Council on Aging. The theme was “Older Americans Making Choices for a Healthier Future”.

At this free of charge fair, there were over twenty table displays with information on nutrition, diabetes, care giving, legal, support groups and others. There was also a pharmacist on hand who answered questions on medications and a nurse who did free blood pressure screening.

The turnout was great with over 200 attendees. It was a very informative event and everyone was able to get a lot of their questions answered.

Libby Costa, Coordinator of the Family Caregiver Support Program at Coastline and also a greeter for the event said, “It was a good time for seniors to get together and learn about services that are available to them in the community”

A lot of the people at the fair expressed positive feedback and were grateful to have such a resourceful event.
