Another Successful Taste of Southcoast

On Tuesday July 29th, 2008, Coastline and Brandon Woods celebrated another successful “Taste of Southcoast”. For the past six years, Brandon Woods of Dartmouth has been graciously sponsoring a fundraiser event to benefit a local charity of their choice. For the past five years, Coastline Elderly's Meals on Wheels Program has been the lucky recipient and co-partner for this lovely event.
The Taste of Southcoast is just that – a wonderful sampling or “taste” from the local restaurants of the Southcoast. It's an affordable event that is open to the public. In addition to the food vendors there is also entertainment as well.
This year, there were twenty food vendors and the entertainment was Candida Rose, a renowned Cape Verdean Jazz and Gospel singer. Local radio station FUN 107 was also at the event – letting everyone try their luck by spinning their prize wheel. There was also a silent auction with prizes that were donated from Coastline Providers and local businesses.
This successful event had close to 300 participants. Though the totals aren't in yet for this year's event, last year's event raised $4000 for Coastline Elderly's Meals on Wheels program.
Coastline is extremely grateful to Brandon Woods for their time, dedication and generosity. We are also very grateful to all of the restaurants, vendors and local businesses that donated food, items, money and support. We are fortunate to be a part of such a wonderful local community and appreciate the generosity of all.
Tina Gaudette, Coastline Elderly's Quality Assurance and Contracts Manager and committee member/volunteer for Taste of Southcoast, summed it up best, “We had great food, a beautiful day, supportive sponsors and devoted volunteers. That's what makes this event so successful”.
